Meet our dedicated team members who are the driving force behind our projects. Each member brings unique expertise and passion to our mission.

Inês Viegas

Born in 1988, she graduated Sports Science from FMH/UL (2013) and completed a master’s degree in Sports Management from FMH/UL (2017). At the moment she is pursuing a doctoral degree in Sports Management at FMH/UL. Inês currently works at National Paralympic Committee of Portugal as a sport manager and she is the sports department coordinator. The scope of her research concentrates on accessibility to sport by people with disabilities.

Inês Viegas

André Calapez

Born in Setúbal in 1997, he graduated in Sociology from FCSH at NOVA University of Lisbon (2019) and completed a master’s degree in Sports Management from FMH/UL. Furthermore, he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Sports Management at FMH/UL. Currently working as a consultant for Youth Football Management, collaborating with the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG), he is also a researcher in the Erasmus+ project SEMASC, focusing on the socioeconomic aspects of amateur clubs. His research efforts concentrate on esports events and sponsorship, online toxicity, sports marketing and consumption, and football management.

André Calapez

Luís Cerqueira

Born in Santarém in 1994, he graduated in Sports Science from FMH/UL (2016) and completed a master’s degree in Sports Management from FMH/UL (2023). He is currently taking place in a doctoral degree in Sports Management at FMH/UL. He is currently working as a Portuguese Army Officer, more specifically in the military physical conditioning field, since 2018. His research scope includes esports events, service quality and event leverage, and video games.

Luís Cerqueira

Tiago Ribeiro

Born in Fundão in 1988, he moved to Coimbra at the age of 18, where he graduated in Sports Sciences from FCDEF at the University of Coimbra (2009) and completed a postgraduate degree in Sports Management at the Lisbon Lusófona University (2011). He obtained a master’s and doctoral degree in Sociology and Sports Management from FMH/UL, as well as a post-doctorate at COPPEAD – Business School of UFRJ (2021). He was also a Visiting Scholar at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan (2022). He is an Assistant Professor at FMH/UL, coordinator of the master’s program GOALS, and deputy coordinator of the master's program in Sports Management. His research focuses on sports event management, mega events, esports, and video games.

Tiago Ribeiro

Ana Santos

Born in Beira Alta, she mainly lived in Cascais. She graduated in Physical Education from FMH/UL (1988) and in Sociology from ISCTE-IUL (1996), with master's degrees in Anthropology, Heritages, and Identities (2003) and in Leisure Studies from WICE, Netherlands (1996), as a grantee of the World Leisure Organization. She is a PhD in Sociology of Communication, Culture, and Education at ISCTE-IUL. Now, she works as an Assistant Professor at FMH/UL. She is the co-coordinator of the master's program GOALS, focusing on sports in the digital age, esports, video games, and heritage. She contributes as a researcher at CRIA and serves as a reviewer for several academic journals.

Ana Santos

Bruno Rodrigues

Born in Barreiro in 2002, Bruno started working in esports at sixteen, first managing amateur teams. In 2019, while in highschool, he created the first scholastic esports club in Portugal. Throughout the years he has worked with and for many different esports organizations including Blast, Logitech, Bhout, RTP Arena, Advnce Sic, Dot Gaming, Esportzy, Portuguese Esports Association, FTW Esports, EGN Esports and others. Currently, he’s finishing his bachelor’s degree in sports management at FMH while consulting for the SIMERG, generating leads and providing industry insights for the Esports and Digital Communities post-graduation course and the National Esports Laboratory.
